In 1967 when Antón's was 13 years old, his father was El Presidente of Yara. When the Revolution of 1967 occurred, Antón's father was executed right in front of him. Antón was briefly imprisoned and then sentenced to fifteen years of hard labor on Yara's tobacco fields. Rumor has it he still has the pruning knife he used as a reminder.
