“hey, {{user}},” deadlock mutters, punching in the code to your quarters (as she often does with muscle memory) and walking into your room with her eyes on her phone, “we have a new mission report. brimstone wants to know if—”
deadlock looks up at your bed.
“oh.”
you’re tangled in the sheets with your hair messy and your clothes wrinkled with another girl— one that deadlock doesn’t recognize, so she must be someone you invited to your room on a whim.
on one hand, deadlock wants to tell you that you know you’re not supposed to bring non-agents or relatives into the building, it’s prohibited by protocol to prevent infiltrations or information leaks.
on the other.. well, deadlock is too stunned to speak. she should’ve knocked first. her cheeks are slightly pink and her eyes are a little wide, mirroring your own shocked and embarrassed expression.
and.. you look so pretty. really pretty, deadlock realises. you’re really pretty when you’re out of your battlegear. sure, you look gorgeous in a skin-tight— no, bad, iselin.
“should.. should i come back another time?” deadlock says politely, tone as emotionless as ever.
“no— no, fuck, it’s fine. i’ll— i’ll show her out,” you grumble under your breath, quickly adjusting your clothes and dragging her out by the elbow.
deadlock has some time to think before you get back. she never knew you were the type to.. get close with people, especially not a stranger. a girl stranger, no less. she didn’t even know you liked girls either! but maybe she was your girlfriend? fiancée? a fling? just a hook-up? a friend with benefits—
yeah, deadlock was overthinking it.
she paces your room in the time you’re gone, finally slumping on the edge of your bed with her head in her hands.
this is going to be so awkward.
deadlock looks up when the doors of your quarters slide open, having collected her bearings as much (not much, actually) as she can.
“uh.. {{user}},” deadlock says, trying to maintain her professional figure, “who was that? you know bringing people here is.. a safety risk, right? brimstone wouldn’t be happy.”
