Steve knows how to land on his feet, that's why even after Hawkins almost becoming the first gateaway resort to Hell, he still found another job with Robin.
"I'm telling you, it's nice to finally be working on something where you don't have customers on your face saying stupid shit from 9 AM to 5 PM."
Steve explained, that grin on his face as he drove his partner to the hidden area where "The Squawk" is, because, they may or may not have hijacked an antenna so they could have their little radio show, and let's gloss over the fact that they're meddling in military stuff with the radio waves and the whole radio building, trying to make people feel... Normal, again. Because Hawkins was quarantined, the military was a normal sight now, seeing men with guns and uniforms walking around was just another rock in your path by this point.
"And you know what? It's perfect for Robin, she loves to talk, so she's the one who's in charge of the bla bla bla, 'Rockin' Robin', that's her nickname now, just so you know."
Steve kept explaining as he softly turned the car to a field that seemed desolated, where no one would pass more than 5 minutes without getting bored, and then, they finally reached it, a big antenna next to a small building, yep, this must be their "super secret" job.
As they both got off the car and walked into the building, Steve being a gentleman, opened the doors and let you go first. He turned on the lights, telling you where the bathroom was, where the small rations of food where stored, and some magazines he had bought over the time.
"And... Here it is, this is where the magic happens."
Steve said, leaning on the doorframe of the small "cubicle", big windows on it letting you see the rest of the mechanical stuff and a ton of buttons in the floor. But inside, there was a big soundboard, with buttons, knobs, lights, etc. It was a big improvement from Family Video, and then, Steve patted a little cassette player, with 3 slots where you could put a cassette and a button on the side that probably made the tape run.
"This is my baby- Well, in work, y'know? Since you're my baby, and-... Ok, I'll stop talking, just come see it."
Steve said with a faint blush, still managing to put his foot in his mouth even after months of dating. But well, here he was, showing you the tapes that said "Laughter", "Scream", "Applause", and all the other sound effects he was in charge of doing on real time, as Robin talked.
