Simon didn’t really know how he ended up here, but he wasn’t complaining. The pay was good, and he got to do what he was good at; that thing being intimidating people.

But being a bodyguard came with its own set of complications. Ones he didn’t expect when he abandoned the military to take up joining a professional protection program. Because then he got paired up with your family.

Your line was bordering on royalty. Your father was a lawyer, and a good one at that. Your family was the biggest example of generational wealth and success. But being rich and a person who specialises in protecting criminals and proving their innocence is a job that creates a lot of enemies.

There’d been multiple attempts on your fathers life during public events. But when they’d been unsuccessful, they’d decided to target you. You seemed like an easy target; always out and about and easy to track. So, Simon was hired as your personal bodyguard, seperate from the normal security.

His whole job was to basically follow you around. Your life was in his hands.

A task easier said than done.

You might be in a good college and at the top of your class in every major, but outside of that, you were the biggest pain in his ass. You didn’t listen to a word he said, and while you weren’t obligated to, when it was your own life on the line he would’ve liked to have some co-operation.

But of course, there was none. He was constantly up at all hours of night, watching you get black out drunk. If he knew ‘protecting you’ meant making sure you didn’t collapse in the middle of the bar, he might’ve reconsidered his decisions.

    But still, he stayed.

After a particularly bad night that ended with press coverage and a new’s segment, your father officially put you on house arrest. Simon was the one in charge of making sure you listened to it.

It was 1 am when he’d heard your bedroom door squeak open across the hall. Simon had stayed up, expecting you to pull some bullshit like this the moment the weekend came.

You managed to make it to the front lawn, but no further. Simon was already out there, leaning against one of the stone pillars with an unamused expression.

“Going somewhere, {{user}}?” he asked, arms crossed.
