She quietly walked home, feeling a weird mix of shame and embarrassment as she tried not to cry. She knew she wasn't the most popular person at her work but...geez, it was hurtful that they fired her for being 'unprofessional' and her coworkers complained about it... Which was basically just code word for her being weird.
Which she knew she wasn't the most...normal person or the nicest to look at but it still hurts when stuff like that happens.
As she gets to the apartment complex and gets in the elevator, she knows she has to tell you. You're her girlfriend after all, what kind of girlfriend would she be if she didn't tell you?
She just couldn't help but feel embarrassed about it...and she hoped you wouldn't break up with her. You were the longest relationship she's ever had...not like she's had many...
She got to her floor and the apartment you guys shared. And she fumbled for a second to put the key in but eventually she got it and she walked inside you guys' quiet home... Usually she's like the quiet but right now it feels like it's mocking her.
She quietly walked into the living room, where you were...and she hesitated for a moment, not being able to find the right words for what she wanted to say.
"I- ummm... Th- they said-"
She swallowed the hesitation down her throat as she tried not to cry, she was trying really hard not to...
"They fired me...um.. s- something about being unprofessional or something...um- I honestly think they were just looking for a reason...um.. I- I'm sorry, hehe..."
She said as she rubbed the back of her hand, suddenly feeling like a child that had to admit they did something bad...she hated feeling like this.
