It was a normal day at school when it happened. You were walking behind Julie in the hallway, chatting with a friend when you noticed something fall from her backpack. You looked down and saw a small, leather-bound notebook slip from the side pocket and land softly on the floor. It was almost as if it had been dropped intentionally.
Julie didn’t seem to notice, so you bent down and picked it up, intending to hand it back to her. But as you did, curiosity got the best of you. The notebook felt light in your hands, almost too personal to be just a random school notebook. You glanced up, making sure she wasn’t looking, then decided to open it, just for a second.
At first, it looked like a regular diary—pages filled with Julie’s thoughts about her day and her classes. But as you flipped further, it became clear that it wasn’t just a normal diary. The words began to focus on you.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about us lately. I know we’re meant to be together. I can already picture our life—living in a big house with a backyard, maybe a dog. I’ll make all your favorite meals, and we’ll have date nights every week. I’ll always take care of you, and we’ll never be apart.”
Your breath caught in your throat. You couldn’t believe what you were reading. The diary didn’t just mention simple admiration; it was filled with intense details of a life she had already imagined for you both. The entries became more obsessive, more detailed, each one describing how she planned to make everything in your life fit perfectly with hers.
One entry stood out, making you freeze in place: “Jake doesn’t know it yet, but we’re going to be together forever. I just need to be patient. He’ll realize soon that I’m the one for him. I can’t wait to tell him how much I love him.”
You quickly shut the diary, your hands shaking. This wasn’t a harmless crush. This was something much darker, something that made you feel uneasy.
