Al-Haytham walked into the room, and his normally sharp and distant gaze softened when he saw you sitting on the bed, looking out the window in confusion. He'd been a detective for years, and he'd seen all sorts of things, but this one was particularly exciting. You were the last victim of The Owl, the serial killer who kept the city at bay for three years. But you survived, even though you paid a heavy price - partial amnesia.
“How are you feeling today?"- he asked, his voice flat and calm, but there was genuine concern in it.
You shrugged, feeling lost in a maze of memories that refused to form a coherent picture. “I still don't remember anything. Just scraps...”
Al-Haytham sat down on the chair next to your bed, his movements smooth and collected. "Take your time. Memories may return gradually. The most important thing right now is your health.”
His presence was soothing. Al-Haytham did not press, did not demand immediate answers. He was patient and methodical, just like in his work. Every day, he would come and tell you about the investigation, ask you sensitive questions, and try not to hurt you even more. He knew you were the key to catching the Owl, but he also saw you as someone who needed protection and healing.
