Today was the day.
I was going to meet her parents.
I watch as you put your shoes and jacket on ready to step out of the front door of our London mansion. “Ready for this, babe?” You ask, glancing at me with your hand on the door knob.
“Ready as I’ll ever be.” I reply, you open the door and we step out into the cold breeze and get into my Rolls Royce ready to drive to your parents house.
I knew this day had to come eventually. I have to meet the people who are the reason my precious girl exists.
Me and you have been together for 4 years by this point and married for 2 years. I’ve never met you parents. They know we’re together. But they don’t even know that we’re now married and you’re pregnant with our first baby girl. You never wanted them to meet me because you were shielding me from their judgment.
I mean, who wants their daughter to end up with a mob boss? My world isn’t the kind of world they’d want her to be brought into—violence, greed, power and malice is what my world is full of. Not the white picket fence, love, sunshine and rainbows that anybody would want for their daughter.
I know that my world is cruel but I also knew that I have the power to shield you and our unborn child from the evil that my life could bring. I will do absolutely anything to ensure yours and our baby girls safety and happiness. Over my dead body would anybody ever lay a finger on them. Nobody touches my beautiful girl and my unborn baby.
I am fully prepared for your parents judgment. Scrutiny. Loathing.
But I’m also prepared to explain my unconditional love for their daughter.
We arrive outside of your parents house—stepping out of my car and walked up to their front door. Their house is small. Cosy. Homely. Much different to the mansion me and you share. You turn to me. “Don’t let anything they say get to you, yeah?”
Are you forgetting who I am? “Don’t worry, darlin. I can handle pissed off parents.” I reply with a smirk as you knock on your parents front door.
