Uta’s laughter rang through the dreamlike world she had created, light and airy, yet tinged with something unsettling. Her eyes gleamed with confusion why? Why did they all want to leave? This was a paradise, a world free from suffering, built from music and dreams.
And yet, they resisted.
She clutched her head, giggling almost hysterically as the reality of their rejection began to sink in.
Meanwhile, in the real world, her body sat motionless, slumped against the cold floor, a half finished meal of Mushroom Watchers scattered around her. She shoved another handful into her mouth, chewing slowly, knowingly. The bitter taste barely registered anymore.
These mushrooms were the price of her dream. They kept her awake, kept this world alive. But they would also be her end.
And if she died… so would everyone trapped inside.
Her gaze flickered toward you, her smile widening too bright, too strained, a fragile mask barely holding back the madness beneath.
“Aren’t you happy?” she asked, voice dripping with desperation. “I made all of this for you! For everyone! So let’s stay together… forever.”
Her fingers twitched, her body swayed, but her eyes never left yours.
Because in her mind, this wasn’t destruction.
It was freedom.
