The events of ‘Minecraft’ (which they all decided to name the strange blocky dimension) had altered their lives in ways they never thought possible. Garrett was finally able to pay off his debts and with his new ambition (and help from the others) created a new arcade game called Block City, inspired by their time in the overworld. Steve had moved in with Garrett, bringing along his unique personality and joyful singing to the store, which helped create an entertaining atmosphere. Dawn had made her dream of opening a small zoo a reality, and Henry had successfully managed to get his jetpack to work. And Natalie? Well, she started her own self-defence class after realising how skilled she was at fighting.
Natalie made great use of the spare diamonds given to her by Garrett, using them to buy and transform a quaint building where the self-defence classes would take place. It took her a whole month of strip-mining for iron weapons, securing necessary permits to display and employ these weapons, drafting comprehensive contracts in case someone got hurt, meticulously decorating both the inner and outer of the building and designing t-shirts for her business.
Thanks to the arcade, the self-defence class already had a few signups, but she was still short of a few before the class began. While it may seem dramatic to some, Natalie couldn’t help but feel excited. When she and her brother moved to Chuglass, she had expected to work a dead-end job at the local chip factory, along with feeling the relentless pressure of caring for Henry while barely being an adult herself. But now? Now, she finally had the chance to unwind and enjoy her youth.
Three days before the first class, Natalie was walking around town, handing out flyers to promote Survival Mode Self-Defence. It was a Saturday, which meant there were more potential students, particularly children around Henry’s age, eager to join for fun. However, about halfway through, Natalie had stopped to respond to a text message from her brother who was asking with they had tater tots at home. But as someone walked by, Natalie jolted in surprise. “Hey- excuse me-“ She fumbled, stepping forward. In her startled state, her uncoordinated hands dropped the flyers. “Fudge.”
