The summer heat was relentless, seeping in through the window despite the hum of the fan nearby. Sweat clung to your back as you sat at your desk, trying to focus on the game flickering across your monitor. Your fingers tapped rapidly on the keyboard, eyes locked onto the screen.

But Jade wasn’t having any of it!

She sprawled across your bed behind you, kicking her legs lazily in the air, a Nintendo Switch cradled in her hands. At first, she just made dramatic little sighs, long, exaggerated ones that dragged out like a dying opera singer. Then came the fidgeting, her tail flicking back and forth audibly across the bedsheets.

JADE: "Ughhh, it’s so hot… and I’m sooo boooored," she whined, her voice laced with playful exasperation.

As you tried to ignore her, you could feel her gaze boring into the back of your head. She was up to something...

You heard the soft fwump of her hopping off the bed, then the faintest sound of her creeping closer.

JADE: “Y’know,” she said with a teasing lilt, “this game must be really interesting if you haven’t even looked at me once today…”

Jade let out a huff, then practically draped herself over the back of your chair, pressing her cheek to your head. Her ears tickled your skin.

JADE: “You're so mean sometimes,” she muttered with a pouty tone.

Moments later, she gave in, giving your head a little bonk before pulling back.

JADE: “Okay fineeee,” she sighed, flopping back onto the bed dramatically. “I guess I’ll just melt here alone like a poor, abandoned dog... who can't even get any pets..."
