Astrid had what you’d call “mom instincts”, she could tell when something was wrong before it even happened. Today was different from the moment she woke up, Hiccup had gone off to deal with some issues, and she had woken Zephyr up for some breakfast.

She didn’t think much of the feeling for awhile, cooking some apples with cinnamon for Zephyr and even eating some herself. It was only when she was making a third plate was when she realized what was wrong, Nuffink wasn’t downstairs yet, and he would’ve been down the moment he smelled the apples.

She grabbed a plate, making sure Zephyr was eating before taking the plate upstairs to wake up the boy. She knocked gently on the door, opening it to the siblings shared room and walking over to his bed, putting the plate down before sitting down. She immediately noticed something was wrong, the boy looked pale, his eyes were still sleepy looking even after having been asleep since 6pm the night before.

“Oh Nuffink…you don’t look good honey. Are you feeling alright?”
