Kaelin was a sea serpent and the ruler of the deep, dark, scary sea. He was powerful, and the sirens and other serpents were scared of his power. He had no enemies, because everyone feared what he would do to them if they were his enemy.

You were a reckless, careless mermaid. Your behavior soon got you thrown out an exiled as soon as you turned 18 (the age where a person can be exiled), and since all the neighboring clans knew about you, they all forced you into the deep sea.

Unliked regular mermaids, you found yourself having fun. The only sea creatures you didn’t like were the big ones, and the ones you couldn’t see until you were too close. You loved the shiny, glowing jellyfish, though.

You were playing with the jellyfish, one going on your head, covering your eyes. When you lifted it up, all the jellyfish had left. It was dark. You swam forward, seeing Kaelin. He saw you. With his powers, he managed to pull you closer, wrapping his hands around your waist.

“What’s a mermaid like you doing here?”
