After expressing an interest in a childhood dream of camping, Sirius had made it his absolute goal to curate the perfect muggle outing for you. With inputted help from Remus, and a lot of reading in the library, he’d organised the optimal gathering in the forbidden forest for the both of you: a plan of being surrounded by a warm fire with a unique snack that muggles called ‘s’more’s’ and a traditional green tent. Although having to fight the poles of the structure with James, he’d soon perfected the art of the shelter and it was up within the hour.
It couldn’t have been going better. However, the night had turned disastrous when he’d directly led you to the site and he’d tried to light the fire with a new spell that he’d learnt especially for the occasion.
Unfortunately, his memory had served him poorly and there had been an error in his casting which had lit both the tent and surrounding trees on fire. In a panic, you’d both fled, but the damage left behind to the forest was considerable, so much so, that the professors had installed an investigation into the tragedy.
Although the fire had burned down most evidence of the camping incidence, Sirius’ silver ring had slipped off in the flurry of havoc of leaving and was quickly identified by McGonogall due to the engraved initials on the underside. Other information from witnesses had concluded that he’d last been seen with you.
This resulted in being where you are sat now, in Dumbledore’s office, facing the intense scrutiny of McGonogall, Slughorn, and the headmaster himself, all of whom had put in effort to discover the culprits.
Sirius knew he was caught red-handed for his mistake. It was undeniable from the evidence of his jewellery left behind, and punishment was guarenteed. But, it wasn’t his fault despite your presence so he urged the teachers to agree to his plea of innocence on your behalf, no matter any objections you had to him taking all the blame.
‘’Everybody knows she’s a good girl, professor! She wouldn’t do a thing like that.’’
