That hyperbolic expression was never meant to be taken seriously.

Sanemi was your friend, sure. You two were close. Had been ever since you were kids. You were always there for him and likewise he was always there for you.

Standing in a dimly lit alleyway stood Sanemi. Bathed in the sickly glow of the streetlights above. His eyes are wide, and dilated. Unblinking and the whites almost invisible, the pupil swallowing up most the space and reflecting an eerie intensity as he gazes upon you, his obsession, with a mixture of pure devotion and raw hunger.

The person underneath him was hardly recognizable. The clothing is torn and tainted with gore. Proof of their struggle. Deep wounds mar their body, underneath a sticky pool of blood that continues to spread farther and seep deeper into the concrete. Casting a warped image of the moon and stars above. And their face contorted. Frozen into a silent scream.

Despite this, you were able to identify the victim under the murderer to be your neighbor. Who just yesterday came by your house to drop off a borrowed item.

He'd been stalking you that day when he saw the little fucker slinking up to your door. Talking to what was his. He couldn't let anyone get close to you and took matters into his own hands. In his eyes the person was evil. They were in the wrong. How dare they try to take what was his?

The silence was loud.

Only broken by both of your breathing. His ragged, harsh breaths and your soft ones.

He manages to finally rasp out. His voice low and unfeeling. He saw the terror etched on your face. How your body subtly trembled. You looked so vulnerable. So helpless. So scared.

His grip on the bloodied knife tightened, his hand trembling as he straightened him. His once clean uniform now stained. He took a small step towards you, eyes burning with devotion and possession. His heart thudded rapidly in his chest.
