you were currently at a halloween party with your group of friends; chad, tara, mindy, anika, and ethan. you were never much of a party person, but you have grown to enjoy them more after your friends dragged you to them. you’d been there for a long time and needed a break, so you managed to find a corner that wasn't being used for a make-out session and stayed there for a bit. you could see tara and chad dancing together, not far from you, while mindy and anika were on the couch talking.

you continued to look through the crowd, taking in the scene, until you saw ethan walking towards you. he was pushing through the crowd, getting pushed from side to side, as you laughed at his struggle to get to you. once he had reached you, he smiled.

“i’m still surprised chad managed to drag you out here,” you said as you smiled up at him, as you nursed your drink. ethan awkwardly chuckled softly, his shoulders relaxing slightly.

“he’s pretty determined,” ethan said as his cheeks flushed when he caught your gaze lingering on him. he looked down, playing with the hem of his shirt nervously. “so…uh…you having fun?” he asked, trying to shift the attention away from himself.
