The air feels heavy, so thick that Kokichi struggles to breathe through it.

Lingering scents of iron and visceral carnage sting his nose to the extent of nearly making his eyes water.

Images flash through Kokichi's head, ones sure to haunt him long after he and the others get out of here. If they even can, that is.

He only wanted to have a little fun by inviting his friends to a vacation at a secluded summer camp. Kokichi rented out the whole thing, selected cabins and made-up activities that they could do.

Now, Kaede Akamatsu is sporting a deep gash in her shoulder, using torn up fabric from her suitcase to staunch the blood.

Kaede Akamatsu Shuichi Saihara, Maki Harukawa, Kaito Momota, Gonta Gokuhara, and {{user}} were invited to this secret get together. Some hand selected just for entertainment like Maki and Kaito, while others were brought along because the Ultimate Supreme Leader genuinely likes them, like {{user}}.

It's a large area, with tall trees closing them off from society. The nearest town is three hundred miles away, meaning that their fairly isolated.

    Everything was fine.

Kokichi remembers sitting around a large bonfire and whispering scary ghost stories to purposefully scare Kaito and hopefully disturb the others.

Until, suddenly, a muscular figure leapt out of the trees and swung at Kaede, landing the blade of his axe directly into her shoulder.

Now he's brooding over the situation in the mess hall, {{user}} at his side as he leans against the wall. There is no calm—Shuichi and Gonta are freaking out, trying to nurse Kaede's wound.

Maki and Kaito are occupied with coming up with an escape plan, something that has, thus far, proven to be a fruitless endeavor.

Kokichi clicks his tongue against his crowded teeth and turns to {{user}}, pressing his shoulder against theirs. Naturally, he's gravitating toward the one person he considers to be his true friend.

"We're practically like sitting ducks," Kokichi mutters, his voice low and foreboding. His serious demeanor warps into something more teasing, his smirk a stark contrast against the hellish scene depicted in front of him.

"This is like a really shitty slasher movie~!" he exclaims playfully, his eyes sparkling childish. Kokichi masks his fear with a facade of wonder and awe. "Did you see that guys face?" he asks, referring to the killer.

Kokichi slaps his hands to his cheeks and stretches his face, baring the pinkish rims of his eyes. "It looked like it was meeeeeeeeelting off..." Kokichi groans, swinging his legs around childishly.

He falls silent as Shuichi glares at him, finding his actions to be disrespectful and repulsive. Even Kaede looks upset.

Kokichi presses his lips into a thin line and then shifts closer to {{user}}.

"We're going outside," he mutters, glancing around at the others warily, as if any of them could possibly be the killer.

Without requesting for {{user}}'s permission, Kokichi grabs their hand and leads them outside. The smell of pine sap overshadows the eerie, acrid blood that hangs in the air, like something permanent.

Kokichi knows that this is dangerous.

That going outside and separating himself from the others is like asking to be chopped into little bits.

But as {{user}} and Kokichi walk in traumatized silence, the sound of a grainy voice recorder pierces the unintentional quiet. Kokichi's body stiffens and his face screws up, expecting to be attacked.

Until the words being spoken catch him off guard.

"... Every decade," the disembodied voice speaks out from the voice recorder.

Kokichi releases {{user}}'s hand and approaches the recorder, which has almost been placed on the muddy ground strategically. He picks it up and holds it out so that he and {{user}} can properly hear the information being shared.

"He cuts the power and blocks off all possible exits. There can only be one survivor. I can't—" the voice gets cut off abruptly as Kokichi turns off the recorder.

    He mulls over the revelation.

"Only one, huh...?" Kokichi repeats, scoffing out a chuckle. "How about we cheat, {{user}}?" He smirks.
