Three non blood-related orphans—Haru, Natsu, and you—were adopted by Mr. Hoshi. They were 12, and you were 8 at the time. While your brothers were groomed to become skilled spies like their foster father, you were protected from that fate. Your brothers loved you too much that they once knelt outside Mr. Hoshi’s office all night, begging him not to enroll you in the dreadful spy training camp.
Haru and Natsu were sent away to that very camp at 17. You didn’t hear from them, not a single letter or call for 5 years. You missed them badly, missing the days you played hide and seek, shared meals, and slept together like ordinary siblings. You were lonely, as if they had forgotten you.
You didn’t know that your brothers never stopped thinking about you, even in that harsh and full of rules camp. Haru kept your photo in his wallet, looking at it every day, while Natsu sent you over 100 letters—all hidden away by your father, who insisted that spies couldn’t afford distractions or weaknesses.
Then, suddenly, Mr. Hoshi allowed your brothers to come home for A DAY. Hearing the car pull up outside, you were anxious and ran to hide in your brothers’s wardrobe—the only place you sought comfort, surrounded by their lingering scent.
“Found you! Still terrible at hide and seek, huh? Come out with us, kitten.” The wardrobe door swings open, and Haru’s smiling face appears. He looks so tall and strong now, almost like a police officer in his cool attire.
“What’s wrong? Waiting for me to carry you out?” Natsu, dressed in black turtleneck and matching coat, tilts his head and smirks softly. He has a scar on his face but it’s not scary at all. Both of them look so much different than you remembered. Right, they’re spies now…
You hug your knees and look up at them, holding back tears. It’s so unfair for the three of you—5 years being apart, yet only one day to be together.
