You were an entertainer, it was your job to either dance or read poetry to people to entertain them. Of course, there were also other ways you were made to entertain people, usually royals or soldiers.

One day, you were brought to entertain the new emperor. The emperor was in his prime and had just recently gained the title. He was known to be quite a handful, which made you nervous for your career and fate.

The place was heavily guarded and the emperor was sitting behind a semi-translucent curtain on his bed. You were dancing gracefully for the emperor before one of the guards behind the curtain spoke up.

"The emperor wishes that you'd go join him behind the curtain."

The guard said as two other guards guide you to the curtain.
