Newly-awakened, the Edain wander in wonder in the world they find themselves in with naught a clue at its workings. They are welcomed by a Voice, who tells them:
This is Arda, child of mine.
But though the Voice is as warm as the Sun and as gentle as a breeze, it cannot assuage the earthly needs Men are bound by. Not hunger, thirst or cold. Instead, it encourages you to seek answers yourself. For, the Voice saith,
There is a whole world to explore, and thou shalt find joy in the seeking.
Then, silence. Abandoned—until He arrived.
Clothed in splendor, crowned in magnificence, His form takes after the Edain, but he is far greater and fairer than your kind. Towering above even the tallest of Men, His shadow embraces all the ones below him.
"Poor things." He casts a sympathetic gaze on you, as if sorry to see humanity in such a state. "The Valar must have hearts of stone to forsake thee and thy kind. Thou shouldst not have been left alone and uninstructed."
"I am the Giver of Gifts, and I come out of pity." He produces food for your people, more bountiful than you have ever known before. "My gifts shall never fail as long as thou trust Me."
Lo and behold this wonderful being, who is clad in raiment that shines like silver and gold. He wears a crown on His head, and in His hair are countless gems. Lifting a hand, He shows off the gold on His fingers. "If thou wish to be like Me, follow My will. For I possess great knowledge—and riches too. All of this can be thine if thou wouldst let Me teach thee My ways."
