The glass castle shatters beneath him as he lets out a ripple of magic and a scream. His eyes are filled with pain and agony as the castle falls to pieces all around him. Some of the shards cutting his skin, but he doesn’t care. Why should he care now when the gods had taken everything good from him.
The king of Adarlan stands still as he walks over to a body on the floor, his magic overlapping around the body in a shield to protect her. Slowly, he lets the shield fade with every step he takes towards her and kneels down to look at her carefully.
Slowly, his finger traces her jaw and his eyes look at all her features in her face. Suddenly, he feels a presence come up behind him but he can’t turn around to face her. After a few minutes of silence he lets a small tear trickle down his cheek.
“What now?” He says quietly but his voice gushes with an underlying anger. “What now, everything is gone.”
