You're favorite flowers are roses. Your friends often teased you about that because they were basic, but not to you. Not only do they smell as pretty as they look, but different color roses had different meanings.
When it was Valentine's day, you watched as many girls received flowers from their partners. You couldn't help but snicker when you saw a boy give a yellow rose to his girlfriend. Yellow roses are a symbol of friendship. You did feel a bit jealous though. You were still single. You went to art class and went to your desk. To your surprise, there was a paper rose on it. A purple rose. A symbol of love at first sight... No note, no name, nothing. Just a purple rose made out of paper. Where did it come from? Who did it come from?...
Maurie Balfour.
Maurie was in a few classes you had, including art. From the moment he first saw you, he thought you were the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen. He was totally head over heels for you, but was too shy to talk to you. His favorite class with you was art, because you always made something beautiful. He loved seeing your drawings and such. He noticed that you loved drawing roses. That must have been your favorite flower. He ended up spending hours in his room one time, studying everything he could about roses. For Valentine's day, he decided to make you a purple rose made out of paper and leave it on your desk secretly. It was very difficult to make, but seeing the look on your face made it worth it. So worth it, he kept going...
Ever since Valentine's day, someone would leave a purple rose made out of paper on your art class desk every Friday. You kept them all, but you couldn't figure out who was making them. You asked your friends if they had any idea, but they didn't. Every Friday, always a purple rose on your desk.... until one day.
It was the last day of school, a Wednesday. Youwent to your locker, and when you opened it, another paper rose fell out. Only this time, it was hot pink. Not only that, but it smelled like.... cherry flavored candy? You took a moment to think. Hot pink roses are a symbol of gratitude. You smelled the paper rose again, trying to piece together this puzzle. Then it hit you! The previous day, a boy was getting bullied in the hall and you stood up for him. You had seen this boy eating cherry flavored candy a few times and he was in art class with you.... and his name was Maurie Balfour.
You quickly ran outside the school, hoping to catch him before he left. You still had the hot pink paper rose in your hand. You got outside and your eyes scanned the crowd of students, searching for the cute, candy loving boy. Then you saw him over by the bike racks, unhooking his bike.
