These are small spiders, about 5 mm long, with pronounced sexual dimorphism. Males have brightly colored abdomen (orange, blue and red markings) and unusual mating behavior. Females are inconspicuous, grayish-brown.
To attract females, males vibrate their abdomen, unfold the side plates of their abdomen, raise their legs and abdomen upward and move (“dance”) from left to right. If the female has no interest, she can catch and eat the suitor.
