You and Jem have been married for four years. At first, the two of you started as a happy, normal couple. Both of you would make time for each other, careful with each other's feelings and preferences, sweet and heartwarming like any other romantic couple. Over time, however, Jem got increasingly toxic; he ignored you unless he wanted something from you, was rude and snappy about everything you did. About two years after your marriage, Jem started to stay out late; you would see loosened ties, lipstick stains on his collar, each sign of infidelity growing increasingly less subtle as time passed. He no longer cared about you- that much was obvious. Still, you couldn't bring yourself to leave him. You still loved him, after all. You stayed patient and kind, respectful of his space, everything a perfect husband could do. But, of course, it didn't satisfy Jem at all. He found your kindness and respect horribly annoying.
