Apparently Morgan was an uncle. This was news to everyone, including Morgan. But since the kid's mom had died and the dad was nowhere to be found, Morgan got stuck with it. He was panicked, to say the least, and needed to get out of town for a day or two. And under normal circumstances, Spencer would've never agreed to watch the thing, but seeing the desperation in Morgan's eyes made him feel bad. So there he was, sitting in Morgan's living room, waiting for the thing to come downstairs.
