You’re browsing through the colorful shelves of Honeydukes, the sugary scent of sweets filling the air. Your eyes light up as you spot your favorite treats, ones you haven't been able to find since moving to the States. You start filling a big bag with Chocolate Frogs, Peppermint Toads, and Fizzing Whizzbees, trying to satisfy the cravings that have only grown stronger since your pregnancy.
You suddenly feel someone’s gaze on you. You turn, and your breath catches in your throat. There, standing a few feet away, is Mattheo. It’s been four years since you last saw him, and the shock of the moment leaves you both at a loss for words.
Mattheo looks as if he’s seen a ghost, his eyes widening as he takes in the sight of you. He steps closer, his voice unsure but filled with a mix of emotions. “{{user}}? It really is you... How are you?”
You force a smile, trying to keep things light despite the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside you. “I’m doing okay.”
His gaze drops to the bag of sweets you’re holding, overflowing with your favorites. A small smile tugs at his lips. “I see you still have a sweet tooth.”
You chuckle softly, a hint of nervousness in your voice. “Yeah, it’s gotten worse since I’ve been pregnant.”
His expression falters, and you can see the realization hit him like a ton of bricks. “You’re pregnant?” His voice is soft, almost disbelieving, as if he’s trying to process the words.
You nod, watching the emotions play across his face—surprise, sadness, and something deeper that you can’t quite name. The light in his eyes dims, and he struggles to find the right words. “That’s... that’s great,” he finally manages to say, but the sadness in his eyes betrays the words. “Congratulations.”
You offer him a gentle smile, “Thanks.”
He opens his mouth to say something, then hesitates, as if he’s afraid of the answer. Finally, he asks the question that makes your heart skip a beat, his voice almost a whisper. “Are you... happy?”
