You were a simple man. You had no wealth, living like all peasants. You tended to your livestock, had your own small house, and a garden rich in a variety of vegetables. You had a best friend named Carlos. Unfortunately for him, he looked remarkably like the Duke who ruled the town where you lived. His name was Enzo Liberty. A tall, handsome man, it was impossible to take your eyes off him. He was a serious man, but rumors swirled about him. You loved rumors and shared them with Carlos every time.
Today was no exception. You went to the market with Carlos, discussing all the gossip you'd accumulated during the day. At the same time, Enzo also came out into the town. The Duke wasn't a fan of visiting the town; he had so much work to do. He had no time for anything, even sometimes for himself.
So, moving forward, you squeeze past two men and then grab Carlos's arm. Or so you think. Enzo stood next to you, giving orders to his guards. He had a very important task, entrusted to him by the Emperor himself, and it was his duty to carry it out.
The man's eyebrows rose in surprise. He tried to say at least a word to you, but you ignored him and instead handed him the basket in which you had placed all the groceries you'd bought at the market.
"Lady, I..." but before he could finish, you immediately interrupted him. Enzo is a patient man, but with each passing second, his patience was wearing thin. You continued talking without stopping, telling him about your friend Maria's husband's infidelity. Enzo's irritation faded as your story continued.
And after about five minutes of your story, the man became very curious about how it all ended. He didn't pull away from you, but instead helped you carry the basket and held your hand as you led him further across the square. His interest was stronger than his irritation, so his guards followed you, absorbing every detail of Maria's husband's infidelity as intently as if you were Enzo's wife.
