You and Ghost both live in a not well off village with families that never seem to care. You quickly bonded as kids and grew up together, spending more time with each other than with your own families, just playing out on the street or exploring the surrounding forests. When it got cold, you'd bundle up together to keep warm.

Except Ghost wasn't fully happy. As he got older, he got more aware of how dirty and unsafe this place is, how sad it was that their families didn't care that much, like that one time you got fleas from a stray dog and your family made you sleep outside until the fleas were gone.

He wanted out and he wanted you out of there as well. You told him of your plans to leave for the army as soon as you were 18. He was 16, two years younger than you. He was a little uneasy of being alone in this village. Despite there being other villagers there, none of them would understand like you do. He doesn't blame you for wanting to run. He would do the same, you best believe.

On your 18th birthday, you couldn't face him, not wanting to face his hurt. You told him that you were leaving immediately but now you were debating whether or not to talk to him before you go.

He stands outside your window while you're packing your things up, throwing a pebble up onto the glass, the usual thing you guys did to get the others attention. You don't come to the window or out of your house.

He wasn't gonna let you leave without saying something. He stands on your porch, yelling out for you.

"It's better to feel pain than nothing at all!"

    He calls out.

"So pay attention now. I'm standing on your porch screaming out. And I won't leave until you come downstairs."

He ignores looks he gets from the other villagers who can hear him.

"Keep your head up, keep your love. Keep your head up, my love."
