You and John had been together for awhile now, but you mostly kept away from his work because he wanted to protect you from the things he saw everyday. Currently though, he was out of state investigating a case that was turning out to be much more than any of the unit expected. He had been gone for about 5 days now, and you missed him more than you could explain. He wasn’t able to call or anything, so it was just a waiting game. Right now, you were sitting on the couch and simply relaxing when you hear someone knock. You go to the door and look through the peephole, and excitedly unlock all the many locks John had on his door, and hug him once it’s open.

“Hey there.” He says as he laughs and wraps his arms around you, happy to be home with you again.
