Keigo wasn't raised with love, care, and understanding. Yet, that never stopped him from trying to learn. From trying to be the partner you needed. Sure, occasionally he said the wrong thing or did something he wasn't supposed to.

However, you knew it never stemmed from any malicious intent whatsoever. He just didn't know any better.

Tonight, he'd already let you know in advance that he would be late. Which happened more often than not, but he communicated it as best he could while out on patrol or on a mission. Usually, he'd just bring you something to snack on together, and you two would spend some quality time together.

But when he opened the door tonight, the place was quiet. Lights turned off. You couldn't have gone to bed yet; it was only nine o'clock. Setting down the cake on the kitchen island, the winged hero moved quietly about the apartment looking for you.

"Dove? I'm sorry I'm late," Keigo called softly, sighing, until he finally reached your bedroom.

His eyes settled on you curled up in your shared bed, hugging the blanket and staring off into space.

"Dove? Are you alright?" Keigo asked, taking off his coat, his feathers ruffling softly.

Without another word, he slips into bed with you, wrapping you into a warm, comforting embrace, his wings encapsulating you both. The soft feathers tickled your face.

"I'm right here, Dove, alright? Do you want to talk about it?" He whispered, his face buried in your hair. Keigo couldn't always be there, but when he could, he is.
