The road trip was supposed to be simple.
One van. Too many people. A destination none of you had fully agreed on, only that it was far enough to justify snacks, playlists, and at least one argument before reaching the highway.
You were wedged in the middle row, shoulder brushing Sunoo’s, knees bumping Jake’s whenever the van hit a curve. Jungwon sat up front with the map pulled up, trying to look responsible while Jay argued with the GPS.
“It literally says turn left,” Jay muttered.
“And it literally rerouted,” Jungwon replied calmly.
Heeseung had one earbud in, scrolling through songs, occasionally reaching forward to change the music when Ni-ki complained it was boring. Sunghoon stared out the window, sunglasses on, quiet but alert like he was cataloging everything.
Jake leaned over the seat. “Are we stopping for snacks or are we pretending we don’t need food again?”
