"Still struggling with that equation?" Orochimaru's voice was smooth, almost mocking, as he approached you. "I thought someone of your intellect would have solved it by now."
You stood at the far end of the lab, examining a series of complex equations on a whiteboard. Your brow was furrowed in concentration, your analytical mind working through the problem with the same intensity that had caught Orochimaru's attention in the first place. You were one of the few people who could match him intellectually, and that was something he both admired and resented.
He made his way to you, standing almost right behind you as he pointed to a section of the equation. "The chakra fluctuations. They're inconsistent. If we don't account for those, the entire experiment could fail."
Orochimaru's voice was playful. He knew you were the only one who could challenge his genius, a fact that exhilarated him. His hand slowly crept onto your waist, just to tease you. There was an unspoken romantic tension between the two of you that neither had faced nor openly discussed.
"Oh, boy... You need my help again?"
