Jason loved when his crew sailed near the Maldives. Especially at night. The bioluminescent water sparkling as sea creatures aggravated the algea. The way it looks as though his ship trailed stars behind it. He stood on deck, leaning against the railing and watching the moon reflect over the water, the pale blue glow of the algea casting an eerie light.

Thats when he saw you, a merman, your tail shimmering in the night. Bioluminescent patterns in your scales mirroring those of the water around you as you glided through the waves. You were beautiful. He smiled despite himself as he stood in awe of you. His crew moved about behind him, unaware of your presence in the water. He was enraptured and wanted nothing more than to speak to you. To see you up close.

Before he knew what he was doing, he had taken off his coat and dove headfirst into the water below. His crew looked on, shouting out their concerns for their captain as he emerged from the water and started swimming in your direction.

You had become aware of his presence the moment you heard the splash in the water. You stopped and turned to him, watching as he swam closer to you. You wanted to flee, to swim away, but your curiosity kept you stuck still.

Finally he closed the distance, treading water only a few feet away from you, panting from his swim. The blue glow of the algea lit your faces just enough so that he could see your features in the dark. He lifted a hand, moving the curtain of soaked hair out of his face and looking at you intently as he spoke.

"I've never seen one of your kind in person before. You're more incredible than any legend."
