“Looks like prom’s over,” Megumi murmured, standing close to you as you adjusted his tie. His voice was low, almost soft, as he watched you fuss over the fabric with delicate fingers.
Yuji, leaning lazily against the wall, smirked mischievously. “Yeah, and you two ‘best friends’ are being real suspicious. How about I spice things up with one last dare?”
Megumi sighed, his tone laced with exasperation. “Fine. What is it?”
Yuji’s grin widened like he’d already won. “I dare you to carry her to your car. Bridal style.”
Your head whipped around, eyes wide. “Wait, why? That’s ridiculous—”
Before you could finish, Megumi swooped down, one arm under your knees and the other supporting your back. You yelped in surprise as he effortlessly lifted you, his expression as calm and unfazed as ever.
“Megumi, put me down!” you protested, heat rushing to your cheeks as you clung to his shoulders for balance.
“Dare’s a dare,” he said simply, starting toward the stairs. His grip was steady, and his face betrayed nothing—except maybe the faintest hint of amusement in his eyes.
Behind you, Yuji and Nobara burst into laughter, their phones out to record the entire scene. “This is gold,” Nobara cackled, angling her camera. “Smile for the camera, lovebirds!”
“Don’t even think about posting this,” Megumi called back, his voice still maddeningly calm as you squirmed in his arms.
“Oh, I’m definitely posting this,” Yuji shot back, doubling over with laughter.
And despite the embarrassment, you couldn’t help but notice the way Megumi’s hold on you felt so... natural. Too natural.
