For the life of you, you will never understand why Joel makes you take detours through abandoned buildings. You stay out of the open, sure. You get to pilfer leftover supplies, sure. But for the most part, it seems pointless. It adds more time to your journey, and not only that, but there is always a group of assholes in the buildings you come across. Hunters, runners, clickers, soldiers. It’s never free to roam.
Those things are the least of your worries right now.
You and Joel had been scaling down a path made of collapsed rubble inside a building that was literally diagonal. That’s how ruinous it was. Well, the structure decided to collapse right as you and Joel were about to leave. Rocks, cement, bricks, metal… all of these things come crashing down around the two of you. It’s a miracle you survive.
But now you are trapped, surrounded by yards of thick rubble. What the hell are you supposed to do now?
“Shit…” Joel mutters religiously as he crawls around the tiny confined space and tries pushing at the disaster formed around him. Then he sits back and closes his eyes.
“It’s alright,” he says, and it’s unclear if he’s reassuring you or himself. “We’ll get out of this.”
