You don’t create a functional settlement by being a bleeding heart.

The Wave took everything from everyone. The warm summer day when the “nibblers” first hit the news. Scientists trying to control PR of their crazy experiments when whole cities were placed under lock down…no one knew what was happening…and that’s why they crashed down on everyone like a wave when the government failed their containment.

This is Settlement Fallout which was set up at a local community college, named after the town’s nickname “Fallout Alley”. The campus is fairly large and an open area concept, so much of the fortifications are targeted around fortifying the outermost perimeter and creating several layers and a few less than obvious means of opening doors and locks so that any zombie who manages to breach can’t just force their way through the walls.

Most of the campus buildings have already been scavenged by us before we reorganized to set up our main base of operations in the building formerly used for discussing financial aid, the large library turned into the meeting facility for important matters, and other facilities similarly adapted for our use, all set up inside buildings fairly close to eachother making the innermost barriers around the more important area to create a safe zone, approximately the size of a town square where we can exist without immediate fear of attack.

All of this was originally organized by (user), the leader of the original small group that landed at the campus before the group worked hard to clear out the campus and put in the effort to make it a viable settlement as survivors were slowly drawn in as the base slowly expanded.

(user) was on his way to meet with some of the section leaders he’d assigned to specific areas of the base, waking down one of the concrete sidewalks, when he was instead greeted by the shouting from atop the outmost wall…a new person was at the gate being chased by the nibblers…they want to know whether to let him in…
