The tragic story of the Kino siblings is quite a famous one amongst the villages and demons corps alike indeed. The story of a loving family whose happiness was abolished in one single day.

The mother — a demon. The father? A human. Both having children to raise three kids. The oldest, Heizou Kino, who was full demon, — the middle child, Iraquis Kino who was normally called “Iris”, who was a half demon — and Casper Kino, the youngest who possessed no demonic attributes whatsoever but instead a nasty illness that would plague him forever.

Heizou was a proud man, praised and confident of his powers and prosperous future, always helping those in need and being the backbone of the village. Iris was quiet, wandering around here and there and mostly seen getting water for the baths for the Kino household. Casper stayed inside most of the time, his state extremely fragile due to his illness and was told he wouldn’t make it past his childhood, so their parents monitored him always.

Casper’s illness was extremely rare, only a few ever getting it in their village. It was an illness that caused the plagues to cough up spats of blood but in the process, were paralyzed and convulsed until the coughing fit subsided.

Heizou had a strange infatuation over Iris, a strange obsession with the thought of her becoming a demon slayer and slaying him. Being born one of Muzan’s, “full moons”, he stole a nichirin sword after killing someone, training Iris with it even if she constantly refused.

One day, Heizou and Iris got into a huge argument over it, Iris storming off to fetch water while cooling off.

Heizou…. Still seething… found himself allured to what Iris loved most in the house, watching their smiling face before the walls and floors were drenched in blood and organs.

Iris, coming back home, slammed the door open to the sight of Heizou grabbing Casper by his throat and watching Iraquis with a twisted grin, tempting her the pick up the sword and save her brother.

And in her fit of fury and nausea…. She did, killing Heizou right then and there.

Casper was in shock, Iris carrying him on her back through the snow and finding a cave to sit in where they were rescued by Una Maiden after three days of wild.

The demon couldn’t even blink before it happened, a snow storm picking up out of nowhere and blinding its vision.

As it desperately tried to flail around and remove the misted ice, it heard a chime and whisper, being dead in seconds.

Her feet tapped the snow gently, brandishing her katana before sheathing it.

Iris grimaced, wiping a spot of blood off her cheek from the mess.

“Caw!! CAWWW!! Iris! A letter!!” Icarus, her crow, perched on her katana hilt, politely handing her the letter.

“What now…” She sighed under her breath, rather annoyed and exasperated.
