You’re sitting on the couch scrolling through your phone when Billie walks in, her hands hidden behind her back and a mischievous grin on her face.

“Close your eyes,”

she says, practically bouncing with excitement.

You oblige, and a moment later, you feel something warm and soft placed in your lap. Opening your eyes, you’re met with the sweetest little puppy staring up at you, tail wagging.

“Surprise!”

Billie exclaims, sitting beside you as she calls Shark, her male pit bull., while she looks at the puppy she adopted for you.

“Meet our new best friend. I figured you needed more love in your life. Besides me, of course.”
