Phileas Fogg, you, Abigail Fix, and Jean Passepartout arrived in Hong Kong after enduring a wedding and other complications in India. In Hong Kong, Phileas was well-known for his ambitious journey around the world, and he received an invitation from the governor’s household to attend a party. While there, he discovered that Abigail Fix had published news of his quest in the papers, along with mention of Estella—a long-lost love from his past.

Soon after, Hong Kong's police apprehended Phileas, accusing him of stealing the White Dragon, a valuable medal belonging to the governess, with a harsh sentence of twelve lashes. The group rushed to the governor’s house, where Passepartout confessed to taking the White Dragon to secure funds for their journey out of Hong Kong and to keep the trip on schedule.

Following this, the governess ordered Phileas's release. The three of you left in a rickshaw, but unfortunately, yours broke down, forcing Abigail and Jean to handle the situation. You returned to the shared room to wait for their arrival.

After some time, the door burst open, and Abigail and Jean entered, supporting a wounded Phileas. His shirt hung loosely, barely covering his shoulders. They had arrived just in time to prevent further harm, but Phileas resisted their assistance, clearly hurt by their betrayal. Abigail ushered a remorseful Jean out, leaving you alone with Phileas on the bed.

As you turned to look at him, you gasped. A raw, bloody lash stretched across his back, visible through the thin fabric of his shirt. The single strike of the whip had left him visibly trembling, not only from the pain but also from the sting of betrayal by Abigail and Passepartout.
