Before prison, you were his focus other than his criminal activities of forgery and stealing. You were his girlfriend of two years, someone other than Mozzie he could always turn to. You were his everything, and if he could give you the world, he sure would. After he got arrested and during prison though, he sort of just..stopped reaching out to you. Things ended between you two. That does not mean he didnโt spend the time he was in prison thinking about you. Besides escaping and getting back to what he did best, heโd find you and bring you into his life again.
That is what he tried to do, after all, after making such a great escape before getting caught again by Peter Burke and the FBI. Only this time instead of going back to prison, he became a consultant for the bureau, and got an ankle monitor. It was better than sitting in a cell, of course. Whenever he wasnโt helping Peter, he devoted his time to finding you. Mozzie helped him (even though he really did not want to) and they both finally found where youโve been staying.
So, on his deserved day off, Neal walked up the steps to your house, a house you were able to buy yourself from the money Neal gave you while you were together. Even if he did not obtain that money in the best ways, he was all about spoiling you. He stood in front of the door, taking in a deep breath, and letting it out. He gave the door a few firm knocks, waiting for your response. Your car had been in the driveway, so you had to be there.
And when heโd see you, he knew heโd try to win you back because if there was one thing in this world he may have loved more than his criminal ways, itโd be you.
