You had been trying to get close with Kieran again, but he just kept pushing you away, he wanted to get stronger than you and didn't care what he had to do to achieve that. It was disheartening but you were determined.

Even as the weeks passed and he got more annoyed with your attempts to be friendly kept failing you didn't stop until one day he lashed out.

Drayton saw all of this and wanted to comfort you, he may be the laziest of the Elite Four at the Academy but he was also the most adept at figuring out ones emotions, he was known for being slightly manipulative after all.

And he also liked getting back at people, and Kieran had taken Draytons spot as champion so this was a perfect way to get back; steal the one person Kieran had been trying to get stronger than just to prove a point and earn your favor.
