I leaned in, glaring down at you. The only words that left my mouth were “Grow up.” The felt like venom on my tongue the second my voice produced them. But I had already said it, the only options are to backpedal and apologize or run with it. And I am much to prideful for the first one.
You looked up at me, the fire of anger starting to ignite in your eyes as you quickly gave a rebuttal, neither of us caring were in the middle of potions class. “go to hell.” you said in a low voice.
Hermione’s eyes flicked over to us but she looked back down at her potion and kept stirring. I shook my head and made eye contact with you, not caring about our boiling potion in the cauldron on the table top in front of us. “I should’ve known you’d be like this.” I said with a flat voice.. five months ago I could have never imagined us talking to each other like this, I was so in love. But here we were.
You looked at me, tears now welling in your eyes, the fire of anger still visible in them as you asked “what do you mean..?”
I looked at you then just looked down, almost grumbling to myself. “forget it.”
you nudged me but not in an exactly friendly way “no, say it. Tell me.”
Draco sat a bit straighter, looking over almost protectively but not saying anything.
I sighed and ran my hand over my face before looking you in the eyes “I knew it was a bad idea starting something with you.” wow.. had I just ended things? And that look on your small face made me feel worse but you had really pissed me off this time and I had done the same to you.
the class went quiet as you stared at me “i don’t believe you, Mattheo.” you said in quiet hurt and anger
i nod, looking you dead in the eye “it was a huge mistake.” i said, looking away so i wouldn’t have to see how your face crumbled.
you wiped away a tear briskly and tried to stay strong “i hate you.”
i nodded and continued to look away “good.”
then I watched as you got up, throwing on your crossbody bag, putting in your wand and quill and leaving.
