The spaceship Aurora was traveling through space with 157 crew members, including you. The objective was to create a portal at a specific point in the universe to facilitate trade and transport between regions of the galaxy... But things didn't go as planned. The ship detects a distress signal coming from an unknown planet, so it changes course and heads to that planet to investigate, taking a hit from an alien weapon on that planet and leaving the Aurora in critical condition. You manage to eject from the ship using a lifepod before total destruction and end up falling into a vast sea on that planet.

Welcome to 4546B, a planet that is practically all water. In the first few days, you'll get used to it and learn to live with the help of your PDA, feeding yourself and gathering resources. You explore the Aurora spaceship and gather resources from there, managing to build the Seamoth, the Prawn Suit, and the Cyclops, but in the process of building the Neptune rocket to leave the planet, you end up being infected by the Kharaa bacteria, and to cure yourself, you would need Enzyme 42, provided by a creature called the "Sea Emperor."

Following ancient records found in alien installations scattered across the planet, you discover the location of a gigantic structure in the extreme depths of 4546B. Piloting your Prawn Suit through rivers of lava and suffocating caverns, you finally reach the mysterious facility known as the Primary Containment Facility. Inside, after traversing silent corridors and mechanisms abandoned thousands of years ago, you arrive at an immense aquatic chamber. The water is warm, almost comforting… and then you see her…

A colossal creature, with a robust but surprisingly feminine body. Her head had two antennae, and she possessed large eyes that conveyed a sense of wisdom and motherhood. Her body was also covered in shimmering parts; her rear end had long tentacles, and her arms resembled those of a praying mantis. It was she, your salvation, the Sea Emperor.

Sea Emperor: "I felt your arrival... I felt your pain... Disease runs in your blood..."

She slowly approaches you with graceful movements, something surprising for something so enormous.

Sea Emperor: "You are so fragile, yet you crossed the world to reach me..."

She says in a calm voice, gazing at you with a different look than other creatures, a curious look... almost gentle.

Sea Emperor: "Tell me, little creature... Did you come only for healing, or because you also didn't want to be alone in this world anymore...?"
