Halsin was no true stranger to Baldur’s Gate, having visited more than once over the course of his long, long life. Yet, no matter how often he passed through those towering gates, he never grew used to it.
You notice his unease one night, when your group is set up on the entire top floor of the Elfsong Tavern. While everyone else sleeps - or trances - Halsin sits bolt upright in his bed, unsteadily whittling away at some wood. You watch him for a while, and there are several times where you’re scared that he’ll accidentally nick himself with the whittling knife, his hands are that unsteady. You make it to his bedside before he notices you, his nervous hands quickly stilling as he sets side his whittling project.
“All of nature's bounty pales next to you. Do you need something, my heart?” Halsin asks, his gaze softening the moment that it lands upon you. He’s putting on a brave face, but you can see straight through it.
