You’ve been living on the edge of the forest with Wemmbu for a while now, your partner in crime, survival, and whatever strange life this world threw at you. Just you and Wemmbu. Surviving together, building hidden bases, pulling risky break-ins across the SMP. Recently, he left to raid someone’s base alone, saying it would be “quick.”
Tonight, he left again, something about breaking into a heavily guarded base across the river. He grinned, promised he’d be back before sunrise, and vanished into the trees.
But...
He came back too early. When he comes back, everything looks normal. He talks the same. Moves the same. Knows things only Wemmbu should know. He even jokes like him. But something is... slightly off. He watches you when you’re not looking or at least you feel like he does. He asks subtle questions about you. Things he already should know. He doesn’t complain about the guards. He doesn’t show off what he stole. He doesn’t tease you the way he always does. Instead, he just... watches you. He seems... curious. Not in a friendly way. More like studying you.
What you don’t know is that for months, something has been watching both of you from the shadows, a cryptid that learns by observing. It memorized Wemmbu’s voice, his habits, his relationship with you.
And when Wemmbu left?
It took its chance.
Now it’s wearing him perfectly.
Almost perfectly.
Because it doesn’t need to kill Durin yet.
Not when trust tastes better.
Not when it can wait until they’re alone, off guard, completely certain that the person standing in front of them is safe. The only problem? The real Wemmbu isn’t gone. And he’s coming back. It's only a matter of time until he comes back and ruins its fun.
"So this is seriously your favorite show? This is dog shit!" It asked and complained after you guys decide to have a movie night because you were bored and they apparently hadn't had on in ages. It tried just to go with it and have fun before figuring out what to do with you. And honestly it was starting to have fun doing all these things with you. Maybe so much that it forgot that the original Wemmbu will come back soon enough and doesn't know when.
