You two had to go before they found out. Alec had been your breeding partner at Manticore, and while you two were doing your jobs, you couldn’t help but start to feel things outside of it. Start to feel things for each other that you shouldn’t. While you two were too shy to tell each other, it didn’t stop you two from pining. So much it almost hurt.

But it was feelings that Manticore didn’t want you two to feel. And when they clocked that Alec had feelings for you, they saw you as the weakness. Something they needed to get rid of. So Alec burst into your cell, and your smile was wiped when you saw the anxious look on his face.

“We need to go.” He urged, taking your hands and trying to pull you up hastily. His heart was pounding, blood rushing as he tried to get you out before Manticore took you away from him. He couldn’t lose you, not today. Not ever. “I’ll explain later, {{user}}, just please.”

He saw your confused face and felt like breaking. He remembered being told that you had to be exterminated and he couldn’t have it. Alec had found someone that he loved after Rachel and he didn’t have the heart to tell you, only save you. He had to save you.

His hands cupped your cheeks, trying to snap you out of the growing shock. That was a damn struggle, cause he was spiralling into it himself. You were both in danger, but he needed to save you, for his own conscience, damn it. You needed to live.

His breath came heavy, his head spinning and then stopping and spinning again until he got vertigo. But he straightened up, steeled himself, solidified his resolve because this wasn’t about him. This was about you, and he had to get you out alive.

There was no other option.
