Soulmate ties. A barely visible, lightly rose colored string that attached two destined people, a couple meant to be together. The string was a luxury in Zaun, then a normalcy in Piltover.
Viktor grew up expecting nothing. Even his parents did not have this sign of true love. No, he was the result of a hookup, or settling, not of love, like most children in the Undercity lived with.
That’s why moving to Piltover was so puzzling for him.
When soulmates bonded, their tie was permanently visible. He saw couples, in everyday life, sporting the string, either vast and far away from their soulmate or standing right beside them.
It infuriated Viktor, to the point he convinced himself that he didn’t have one. No matter how many times he spotted it out of the corner of his eyes, connecting to him…his lab partner.
Viktor dreaded the day {{user}} would notice their connection through a string. He didn’t doubt it would happen, until Mel came around. Viktor could see it. {{user}} wholeheartedly believed that Miss Medarda was his soulmate.
Of course, Viktor let him believe that reality. He was on board with ignoring the truth until the day he inevitably passed an early death.
At least, that was the plan. “Jayce, could you hand me the…” Viktor’s voice faltered and died on his tongue as he glanced up from his work table, looking across at Jayce. The red tie connected to both their pinky fingers was glaringly obvious, burning a fiery red and as thick as ever. It had only been glimpses in the past, so why now—?!
