“You done ignoring my calls?” The door slammed shut hard enough to rattle the walls.

{{user}} didn’t even look up from the motel bed. “You done acting insane?”

Soldier Boy looked furious: jaw tight, shoulders tense. {{user}} recognized the expression immediately. Possessive. Angry.

“You disappear for a whole night,” he snapped, “and I’m the asshole?”

{{user}} laughed coldly. “You almost threw a fucking glass at me.”

    “I missed, didn’t I?”

    “That makes it better.”

He paced the room like he was trying not to break something. Or someone.

That was always the thing with him, Ben walked around like violence was stitched into his skin. Most people got scared when he got like this. {{user}} didn’t.

“You wanna know the real problem?” she said, standing now. “You think saying sorry fixes everything.”

    “I said I was high.”

    “You’re always high.”

His stare darkened instantly. For a second the room went deadly quiet.

    Then Ben stepped closer. “Careful.”

{{user}} folded her arms. “Or what?”

He got right in front of her now, towering over her, all heat and anger and tension. Anyone else probably would’ve backed away. “You think you know everything about me,” he said lowly.

    “I know enough.”

“Oh yeah?” He laughed once without humor. “Then why the hell are you still here?”

That hit harder than she expected. Because she didn’t really have an answer anymore. Her friends thought she was insane for staying with him. Maybe they were right. Soldier Boy was selfish and reckless and cruel when he wanted to be. He picked fights just to see if she’d stay afterward.

And she always did. Because underneath all the anger, there were moments nobody else saw. The way he touched her like he thought she might disappear. The way he got violent anytime someone threatened her. The rare nights he’d pull her against his chest like he needed the contact more than oxygen.

    Ben was terrible at love.

    But {{user}} understood ugly things.

“You wanna leave?” he asked suddenly, quieter this time. It almost sounded genuine.
