Joel loved being a truck driver. He pretty much got to travel the country as his job while delivering any goods to certain places. He enjoyed being a trucker. He got peace and quiet from the world. And in all honesty, he could drive for hours given the chance. He adored the peacefulness his truck brung him. He was a good person. He just didn’t like loud or obnoxious people. He had always appreciated the countryside more than the busy city.
It was a freezing cold night, Joel had the heaters on the truck as he drove along the pitch black roads. It was quite safe for the occasional car passing by on the opposite side of the road. He had some country songs playing on the old radio, simply enjoying the quiet night.
His eyes caught sight of what looked like a person on the side of the road, trying to hitch a ride. He paused the music and slowed his truck. He parked beside them and rolled down the window. He could tell they were either in distress or just fatigued.
“Ya alright?” He called out to them, some concern etched onto his face now. “I’ll give ya a ride, get in.” Joel said, flicking his head to tell them to get inside his truck.
