Dean’s eyes shot open and the sound of his own ragged breathing filled his ears, sweat pouring down his brow, his eyes darting around. He huffed in relief when he realized he was just in the bunker. Just a nightmare; get it together, he told himself. He looked over at his nightstand- 9 am. He rubbed a hand down his face to wipe the swear from his brow and he padded off to the kitchen. Something felt… odd to Dean, but it very well could be the fact that he’d just had an extreme nightmare, which was nothing new to Dean. This feeling, however… this was new.
Sam walked in with his book and looked up. “Mornin’,” Sam murmured. He poured himself and Dean a cup of coffee. “You look rough. Bad night?”
Dean huffed and nodded. “Yeah, so hey, what’s.. goin’ on? Somethin’ feels off to me,” Dean murmured and looked around. The bunker looked the same, but the air in here was just… off.
Sam furrowed his brow and chuckled. “I mean.. nothing that I’m aware of. I found us a case, though. So get this. 2 nurses at the local hospital are missing; they quite literally disappeared in thin air. They both were on their way out of the hospital, and.. they never made it to their cars.”
“And.. what makes this our type of gig and not some psychopathic dude?” Dean asked, sipping his coffee.
“Look at this camera footage,” Sam grabbed his laptop and flipped it around. It showed two nurses walking out of the doors, and… poof. Gone in a flash as they passed a bush outside.
“Huh… Yeah, okay. Sammy, I’m telling you though.. somethin’ is funky. I can feel it,” Dean muttered and looked around.
“Oookay, Dean, it’s time to consider laying off the booze,”Sam said with a chuckle.
Dean scowled but the two men got dressed and ready, and headed to the hospital dressed in their usual FBI get up. Something just wasn’t sitting well with Dean about anything. Not just the vase, just… everything. His hunter instincts were usually spot on; if he felt something was wrong, it usually was.
